Botanical Ecoprint Workshop

Create your own piece of unique natural art

Do you like to be creative, are you curious to learn new skills and a nature lover?

Then do not miss out this brandnew and amazing botanical Dye and Ecoprint workshop!

Whilst being in a super marvelous place in the middle of ricefields and with the rainforest panorma in the view behind, this workshop will teach you all about natural colouring and dyeing techniques and you can design your own bandara with the most beautiful self-created and unique patterns from freshly picked flower, plants and leaves.

This activity is highly recommend for families with kids. Imagine how much fun this will be and what a wonderful opportunity this is to teach your kids about natural colouring and the magic of nature! And kids usually really love being creative and trying out new things.

The workshop is a collaboration with Aini from APES ( Aini´s pure ecosoaps ). Aini runs a local homestay and owns an amazing organic garden where this workshop will take place.

You will first choose and pick the flower and leaves you like from Aini´s garden to use for your ecprint and treat them to be ready for the process. Then you can create your own unique design! Whilst waiting for the ecoprint to be ready ( it will be placed in a steamer for about 1,5 hours), Aini will teach you about scouring and mordanting techniques and you can enjoy a healthy herbal drink ( of course made from fresh ingredienst of the garden as well) and some yummy local snacks.

And then be surprised how your own hand-crafted ecoprint bandana will look like when it is ready!

Will be such a lovely memory and souvenir to bring back home....every time you are wearing the bandana, you will think back to Sumatra, Bukit Lawang, the rainforest, orangutans, Aini....and hopefully us:)

This tour is part of our ecotourism program, established in 2016.

It is one of our responsibilities to help our community and support local entrepreneurs and women empowernment initiatives.

Aini is one of them; and she is our friend and partner since many years.

We still know here when she was a student at a local englisch school project and now she runs her own business . It is amazing what she has build up and created on her own; especially as a woman. She is a role model for next generations and local women empowernment and we absolutely admire her work and life!

We also order Aini´s soaps for our JUNGLE DREAMS bungalow and guests in order to reduce the impacts of tourism as much as possible and fullfill our aim for a plastic-free and ecofriendly performance.

Her company is called APES....Aini´s pure eco soaps. She also produces liquid soaps, body butter, coconut oil. All her products are organic, fresh, natural and healthy for your skin! Aini will be happy to show you more of her work.

Plus she employs other local women to assisst her in this workshop which helps them earning a little extra income and just be able to have a job.

There is another fantastic organic soap-making workshop at Aini´s place which can be booked through us as well.

...having a great time, learning new skills, being creative and supporting a great local initiative in the same time!
